- Finding
- NHHC DANFS identifies Tracy as a Clemson-class destroyer built by William Cramp & Sons at Philadelphia: laid down 3 April 1919, launched 13 August 1919, commissioned 9 March 1920, redesignated destroyer minelayer DM-19 on 30 June 1937, decommissioned 19 January 1946, struck 7 February 1946, sold to Northern Metals Company and scrapped in 1946. Its specification block gives complement 132.

- Limitations
- DANFS establishes history and complement, not asbestos composition, quantities, individual exposure, or causation. Its Pearl Harbor berth number differs from the contemporary action report; that detail is handled in ev-02.

- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- Tracy's commanding officer reported on 10 December 1941 that the ship was undergoing overhaul at Pearl Harbor on 7 December, moored portside to berth 16, with main and auxiliary machinery, boilers, and gun batteries dismantled. The report says four officers and the duty section were aboard at 0750.

- Limitations
- Contemporary report documents an overhaul and dismantled equipment, not what insulation or other materials were present or disturbed. DANFS says berth 15; the action report says berth 16, which is used here as the more direct contemporary account.

- Locator
- General Information Books; Board of Inspection and Survey Reports; Ship Engineering Drawings; Deck Logs and Muster Rolls sections
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- NARA's naval asbestos research guide identifies potentially responsive records for this hull: RG 19 Entry P 9 destroyer general information books, Entry P 11 minelayer general information books, hull engineering drawings under 19-Hull (including S39 insulation and lagging and S48 piping), and RG 38 material inspection reports. The guide warns that deck logs and muster rolls do not directly document asbestos materials.

- Limitations
- NARA describes record series, not a retrieved Tracy file. The guide does not establish that Tracy's books or drawings survive, that they name asbestos, or that asbestos was aboard this hull.

- Locator
- search_ledger entries sl-uss-tracy-dd214-01 through sl-uss-tracy-dd214-04
- Finding type

- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos survey, material specification, abatement record, or official public document identifying asbestos aboard USS Tracy was located in the official public sources searched in this batch.

- Limitations
- Limited to the public sources and search terms recorded in the ledger. Absence of a located record does not prove absence of asbestos or exposure, and it does not establish legal eligibility. NARA's underlying ship files were not retrieved.

[7]National Archives, Special List 44 — Named Vessels [other_primary]
- Locator
- Tracy (DD-214, DM-19) entry
- Finding type

- Finding
- NARA's Special List 44 identifies a Tracy (DD-214, DM-19) deck-log series covering 9 May 1920 through 30 June 1945.

- Limitations
- This is a catalog entry for logs, not the logs themselves. NARA states deck logs do not directly document asbestos materials; they may help date shipyard work but cannot establish material identity or individual exposure.
