- Limitations
- The catalog image confirms the YMS-290/Nightingale (AMS-50) crosswalk and a circa-1945 photograph only. It does not establish construction dates, materials, asbestos content, exposure, or legal eligibility. Direct command-line retrieval returned HTTP 404, but the live catalog page was verified through the available web research service.

[5]National Archives, "Researching Asbestos aboard U.S. Navy Vessels through 1961" [other_primary]
- Locator
- General Information Books section (RG 19, Entry P 11, Minesweeper and Minelayer GIBs, 1940-1962); Specification Files section; Deck Logs discussion.
- Finding type
- regulatory
- Finding
- NARA's Navy-vessel asbestos research guide identifies RG 19 minesweeper and minelayer General Information Books (1940-1962), Bureau of Ships correspondence, and specification files as records pathways for researching asbestos aboard Navy vessels. It explains that General Information Books may show ship-system layouts and that deck logs can help identify dates of major work.

- Navy ship construction and maintenance records through 1961
- Limitations
- This is a research guide, not a YMS-290 material record. It does not establish that asbestos was installed, retained, removed, disturbed, or present aboard this hull, and does not establish exposure, causation, or legal eligibility. The identified RG 19 records were not examined in this batch.

[6]Batch 8916 CourtListener ledger; authenticated cl-auth-search.py helper (CourtListener API v4) [other_primary]
- Locator
- search_ledger rows sl-uss-yms-290-yms290-05 through -08; helper diagnostic on each attempted query: fleet-wide request budget momentarily spent before HTTP request.
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- No qualifying ship-specific asbestos litigation finding is made in this record. The required authenticated CourtListener exact-name opinion and docket queries for "USS YMS-290" were submitted through the prescribed helper, but its fleet-wide pacing gate refused each before an HTTP request was sent; the two hull-number base queries were not sent after the second refusal because the helper expressly directed the session not to retry in a loop. No anonymous or alternate CourtListener access was used.

- Limitations
- This is an incomplete-search result, not proof that litigation does not exist or that asbestos was absent. No API result set was obtained and no litigation classification can be made. The helper's pacing instruction was followed to protect the shared authenticated quota.
