It describes the unit's survey mission as studying probable effects of the tests on fish and other wildlife and surveying ocean currents around Bikini Atoll.

  4. [4]National Archives, Special List 44, by Ship Numbers, p. 119 (PDF); checked as part of primary-source asbestos documentation review [other_primary]
    Locator
    YMS-358 entry; PDF p. 119
    Finding type
    historical_record
    Finding
No ship-specific asbestos documentation was identified in the primary-source checks completed for this record. The reviewed NARA deck-log inventory documents log coverage only; it does not identify asbestos aboard YMS-358.

    Limitations
A bounded search result, not proof that no such documentation exists. Firecrawl search was unavailable because its hosted MCP quota was exhausted. CourtListener's four-query sweep was not completed because the authenticated fleet pacing helper reported the shared request budget spent. No litigation negative is asserted.
