Stadium Yacht Basin construction trades (1942-43); crew (1943-47)
    Limitations
NavSource is a volunteer secondary compilation, not a primary registry - milestone dates generally track NVR/DANFS but the page records 'Completed' rather than a commissioning ceremony (see gaps). Contains no asbestos or material content.

    Finding
NARA Special List 44 inventories US Navy deck logs held in Record Group 24 for this hull: the entry 'YMS-390' lists log coverage 2/1/1944 to 6/30/1945 (PDF page 120 of the by-ship-number list). This documents that deck logs for this vessel survive at the National Archives; the coverage window is the log inventory, not asserted commissioning/decommissioning dates.

Crew during log window (Feb 1944 - Jun 1945)
    Limitations
Archival lead only: the list documents that the logs exist in RG 24, not their content - the logs themselves were not examined and no digitized copy was located (NARA Catalog is JS-rendered; no catalog item resolved for this hull). A deck log is an operational record and would not normally record construction materials. Does not establish any asbestos content.

    Finding
The official post-surrender report's ship list places this hull in Tokyo Bay on 2 September 1945: YMS-390 is listed under 'Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper (YMS)' among 12 YMS hulls (YMS-177, -268, -276, -343, -362, -371, -390, -415, -426, -441, -461, -467) present during the surrender ceremony aboard USS Missouri. The NHHC note records that the CINCPAC list was corrected against war diaries, deck logs, and other sources.

    Finding
The awards-manual transcription credits this hull with World War II operation participation: P30-2 capture and occupation of southern Palau Islands (6 Sep - 14 Oct 1944); P34-1 assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto (27 Jun - 30 Jun 1945); P35 3d Fleet operations against Japan (5 Jul - 31 Jul 1945); P207-23 'Skagway' East China Sea-Ryukyus area (14 Aug - 15 Aug 1945); P207-2 Tokyo Bay, Honshu area (25 Aug - 3 Sep 1945). The record is consistent with the Pacific minesweeping career implied by the deck-log window and Tokyo Bay presence.

Secondary commercial transcription of NAVPERS 15,790 (Rev. 1953) - the underlying manual is official but this page is not a government host, and no total battle-star count is asserted (P207 parent areas carry the 'only 1 star for participation in 1 or more' rule, so the operation list cannot be summed into a star count). Finding type
    vessel_history
    Finding
The builder's yard list records this hull: YMS-390, US Navy minesweeper, 278 tons, delivered 30 August 1943, 'sold 1947'. The yard history notes Stadium Boat Works was started as Stadium Yacht Basin around 1935 at the foot of West 3rd Street, Cleveland, and closed in 1957; the table documents the yard's wartime output of YMS-class minesweepers (YMS-76 through -83, -235 through -240, -389 through -392, -414 through -417, -460/-461, and related hulls) - Cleveland Historical independently records the yard built 26 minesweepers for the US Navy.

Secondary yard-history compilation (coltoncompany/shipbuildinghistory) corroborating NavSource/uboat.net; the table's own yard hull-number column is blank for the YMS entries. 'Sold 1947' is consistent with the WSA transfer. Contains no asbestos or material content; the yard is a small-craft builder and is not in shipyards.json.

    Finding type
    asbestos_application
    Finding
A wooden-hulled diesel motor minesweeper built 1942-43 sits inside the Navy's documented asbestos-use era. Era-standard applications aboard a small diesel combatant of this type and period were engine and exhaust thermal lagging, machinery and flange gaskets, valve stem packing, electrical cable insulation, winch and windlass brake linings, and interior deck-covering compounds. As a diesel vessel she carried no boilers or steam turbines - the boiler/steam-line lagging pathway of steam ships does not apply, though small-craft confined spaces (engine room, accommodation trunk) concentrated whatever asbestos products were installed.

    Finding
No qualifying ship-specific asbestos record located: no asbestos survey, abatement contract, hazmat disclosure, or verified litigation naming YMS-390 was found in the public sources searched (see search_ledger). CAVEAT: CourtListener could not be queried at research time - the helper script reported the fleet-wide pacing budget spent on each attempt; logged as blocked in search_ledger, not as a negative result. Secondary web sweeps surfaced no qualifying case and no law-firm 'asbestos aboard' listicle naming this hull was located.

    Limitations
Absence of a located public record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard - a 1942-43 Navy combatant is era-consistent with asbestos products, and the litigation repository search is a genuine open gap (pacing-blocked, not run). Deck logs (RG 24, 2/1/1944-6/30/1945 coverage), builder records, and any WSA sale file are undigitized leads. Does not establish or defeat any claim of exposure or legal eligibility.
