- Documented for this hull: laid down 24 June 1943 as Patrol Craft Sweeper PCS-1434 by the Gibbs Gas Engine Co., Jacksonville, FL; reclassified Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper YMS-466 on 27 September 1943; launched 22 January 1944; completed 4 July 1944; transferred to the Soviet Union 31 May 1945 and reclassified T-192; assigned to the Black Sea Fleet 4 August 1945; placed out of service 13 December 1958 and reclassified degaussing ship SBR-180; scrapped 17 November 1959. Header notes she 'served the Navies of the United States and the Soviet Union'; call sign Nan-Queen-Yoke-Victor. Specifications: displacement 270 t.; length 136'; beam 24'6"; draft 8'; speed 15 kts.; complement 32; armament one 3"/50 dual-purpose mount, two 20mm mounts, two depth-charge projectors; propulsion two 880-bhp General Motors 8-268A diesel engines, Snow and Knobstedt single-reduction gear, two shafts. The reclassification pre-dates launch and commissioning by ~4-10 months, confirming she never served as PCS-1434. Page states no DANFS history exists for this hull and no image is available.

- NavSource is a volunteer secondary compilation, not a primary registry - milestone dates are unverified against NAVSHIPS 250-012 or the NVR (no NVR entry exists; disposal predates NVR coverage). Contains no asbestos content and no US-service narrative between completion and transfer. Soviet-service detail (T-192, Black Sea Fleet, SBR-180, 1959 scrapping) traces to Soviet lend-lease reference data and is single-sourced here.

- Finding
- Gibbs yard table: 'YMS 466 - US Navy - Minesweeper - 320d - 136 - 4-Jul-44 - To the USSR 1945 as T-192, scrapped 1954.' The canonical YMS production table gives 'YMS 466 - Gibbs Gas Engine - Jacksonville FL - 136 - 320 - 4-Jul-44 - To the USSR (192) 1945.' Both confirm Gibbs as builder and the 4 July 1944 completion. Yard history: Gibbs Gas Engine Works was founded 1911 and was a prolific builder of gas engines and small wooden and steel vessels in peacetime and both World Wars; postwar it became Gibbs Corporation, was sold to Aerojet-General Shipyards in 1964, folded into the consolidated Jacksonville Shipyards, sold to Fruehauf in 1969 and Terex in 1989, and closed for good in 1992. The Gibbs yard stood at the east end of Prudential Drive.

- Secondary compilation (Colton's long-running shipyard reference, data partly crowd-sourced). The yard table's 'scrapped 1954' disposition conflicts with NavSource's detailed Soviet timeline (out of service 1958, degaussing ship SBR-180, scrapped 17 November 1959) - carried as a date conflict in gaps, NavSource favored for having fuller Soviet-service detail. - Locator
- Project_HULA.htm appendix table (YMS transfer rows); roster paragraph '36 wooden-hulled motor minesweepers'; sources note citing NAVSHIPS 250-012 and Berezhnoi
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- Russell's NPS-published history documents that the United States transferred ships to the Soviet Navy at Cold Bay, Alaska, under Project Hula: the roster included 36 wooden-hulled motor minesweepers (YMS). His appendix table of transferred vessels - sourced from NAVSHIPS 250-012 (Ships' Data: U.S. Naval Vessels, 1949) and Berezhnoi's Soviet lend-lease reference - lists every YMS transferred at Cold Bay, and they carry T-5xx and T-6xx Soviet designations (T-521 through T-527 and T-588 through T-611). YMS-466 is NOT in the Hula table: her Soviet designation was T-192, part of a distinct T-1xx series that also included sisters YMS-460 (T-183), YMS-462 (T-184), YMS-464 (T-188), YMS-465 (T-187), and YMS-469 (T-186), transferred April-May 1945. Her 31 May 1945 transfer therefore occurred outside the Cold Bay Project Hula channel.

- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- Class context: in the three-year period spring 1942 through spring 1945, 35 boatyards turned out 561 wooden-hulled minesweepers of essentially one design - 136 feet long, 13 knots - in three mark groups: Mk I (YMS 1-135, two stacks), Mk II (YMS 135-445, one stack), Mk III (YMS 446-481, no stacks; this hull's group). Transfers: 150 directly from builders to the Royal Navy (BYMS series), 30 to the Free French Navy in 1944, and 45 to the Soviet Union in 1945 - this hull was one of the 45.

- Finding type
- asbestos_application
- Finding
- A wooden-hulled diesel motor minesweeper built 1943-44 sits inside the Navy's documented asbestos-use era, but the application envelope on this craft type was far narrower than on steam vessels: there were no boilers and no steam plant, so no boiler/turbine lagging pathway. Era-standard asbestos applications aboard a small diesel craft of this period were engine-exhaust lagging, gaskets, valve packing, and electrical insulation - applied in the confined 136-foot hull volume.

- Class/era inference only - no hull-specific insulation survey, material list, or work package located for YMS-466, and no YMS-class material specification was located either. Names era-standard applications, not confirmed installed materials; no quantity; no manufacturer attribution. The wooden hull and diesel plant make this a materially weaker inference than for steam-powered vessels of the same era.

- Finding
- CORRECTION: a Wikipedia list article asserts that all 1945 US-to-USSR minecraft transfers occurred under Project Hula (Cold Bay). For this hull that is contradicted by the project's own NPS-published appendix: YMS-466 was reclassified T-192 - a T-1xx series hull like sisters YMS-460/-462/-464/-465/-469, none of which appear in the Cold Bay transfer table (which lists only T-5xx/T-6xx YMS) - and she was assigned to the Black Sea Fleet on 4 August 1945, not the Pacific. The record here carries the bare documented fact (transferred to the Soviet Union 31 May 1945, T-192) and treats the Cold Bay/Project Hula attribution as not established for this hull.

- Finding
- No qualifying ship-specific asbestos record located: no asbestos survey, abatement contract, hazmat disclosure, museum record, or verified litigation naming USS YMS-466 (or PCS-1434) was found in the public sources searched (see search_ledger). CourtListener: the 'YMS-466' opinion query completed with 0 results; the docket query and both PCS-1434 queries were blocked this session by the fleet-wide pacing limiter - logged as blocked, not as a negative result. Secondary web sweeps surfaced no qualifying case and, unusually, almost no law-firm marketing content for this hull at all. No photograph of the hull is available even at NavSource.

- Limitations
- Absence of a located public record does not prove absence of asbestos aboard - era-consistent material applications remain plausible for a 1943-44 diesel naval craft. The litigation repository search is only partially complete (three of four base queries blocked by fleet pacing - a genuine open gap, not a negative). Soviet-era service and disposal records (1945-59) are effectively inaccessible in public US sources. Does not establish or defeat any claim of exposure or legal eligibility.
