[2]NavSource Online, Mine Warfare Vessel Photo Archive, YMS-82 (live page verified 2026-10-05) [other_primary]
- Locator
- YMS-82 chronology and specifications block
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- NavSource's live YMS-82 page identifies the hull as a YMS-1-class auxiliary motor minesweeper built by Stadium Yacht Basin, Cleveland, Ohio; laid down 24 October 1941; launched 13 June 1942; completed 10 August 1942; transferred to France 5 October 1944 and named Dahlia (D-325); sold to France 21 March 1949; struck from the Naval Register 28 April 1949; reclassified D-05 and M-645; and decommissioned 29 January 1959. It reports later commercial service as Gouyer and sinking at Saint-Pierre, Martinique, after a fire. Its specification block lists 270 tons displacement, 136-foot length, 24-foot 6-inch beam, 8-foot draft, 15-knot speed, complement 32, and two General Motors 8-268A diesel engines on two shafts.

- Population
- Stadium Yacht Basin construction workers; U.S. Navy and French Navy personnel; later commercial workers
- Limitations
- NavSource is a secondary photo-archive compilation, not an official registry. It supports the displayed chronology and specifications only; it says completed rather than commissioned, and the reported later French and commercial history was not independently corroborated in this pass. It contains no asbestos or exposure evidence.

- Finding type

- Finding
- National Archives Special List #44, by Ship Numbers, indexes U.S. Navy deck-log coverage for YMS-82 from 12 August 1942 through 5 October 1944.

- YMS-82 crew and Navy deck-log record custodians
- Limitations
- This is a finding aid establishing record coverage, not the deck logs themselves. It does not establish commissioning, decommissioning, locations, individual events, asbestos, or exposure. The logs were not examined in this pass.

[4]NavSource Online, Auxiliary Motor Minesweeper (YMS) index [other_primary]
- Locator
- Class description and specification block
- Finding type
- vessel_history
- Finding
- The NavSource YMS class index describes the type as wooden-hulled auxiliary motor minesweepers and lists class-level specifications of 136 feet length, 24 feet 6 inches beam, 320 tons displacement, complement 33, and two General Motors 8-268A diesel engines on two shafts. YMS-82 falls within the early numbered group described by the index as having two stacks.

- Population
- YMS-1-class construction and operating population
- Limitations
- Class-level context cannot establish that any asbestos-containing material was installed aboard YMS-82. The class figures conflict with the ship-specific NavSource specification block; no conflict is resolved here. No class inference is used as a ship-specific asbestos finding.

[5]Bounded research result for this batch; see search ledger and gaps [other_primary]
- Locator
- Search ledger rows sl-uss-yms-82-yms82-01 through sl-uss-yms-82-yms82-08
- Finding type
- asbestos_application
- Finding
- No ship-specific asbestos survey, abatement record, hazmat disclosure, product-identification record, or asbestos application record naming YMS-82, Dahlia, D-05, M-645, or Gouyer was located in the reviewed sources. Ship-specific asbestos documentation is unknown.

- Limitations
- A bounded search result, not proof that records do not exist. The NARA deck logs were not examined, the required Firecrawl functions were unavailable, and no class-era inference is used to claim asbestos aboard this hull.

[6]CourtListener authenticated API v4 helper sweep, 2026-10-05 [court_record]
- Locator
- Search ledger rows sl-uss-yms-82-yms82-09 through sl-uss-yms-82-yms82-12
- Finding type
- historical_record
- Finding
- The four required authenticated CourtListener base searches were invoked through the fleet helper: exact-name opinion and docket searches for USS YMS-82, and hull-number opinion and docket searches for YMS-82, each limited to 20 results. The helper emitted authenticated-request diagnostics but returned no usable result payload or success status in this session. No asbestos-qualified variants were run because no completed base query established a 20-result overflow.

- Limitations
- This is an incomplete litigation finding, not proof that no litigation exists and not a classification of unseen hits. The result payload was unavailable after authenticated helper invocation; no anonymous, raw, v3, or repeated request was made. No asbestos-qualified variant was run.
