Claim scope
That airborne tremolite asbestos IS measurable during ordinary cosmetic use — 5 of 54 personal air samples — with the concentrations reported verbatim above. The spiked-powder study (PMID 36227690) adds dose-response detail: at 0.005% asbestiform tremolite, '2 of 24 (8.3%) samples were above the LOD for TEM (0.003 f/cc)', while at 0.1%, '21 of 24 (87.5%) were above the LOD'.
What this source does not establish
The risk conclusions in these papers are the AUTHORS' calculations, not findings of any agency, and they are contested: PMID 35092968 concludes 'cumulative non-occupational asbestos exposures confer a less than one in 1,000,000 risk ... based on many typical usage patterns and less than 1/100,000 risk with upper-end lifetime usage'. Report the MEASUREMENTS, and attribute the RISK ESTIMATE to the authors. Note that PMID 36377135 is the authors' published response to a letter to the editor criticizing PMID 35092968 — the paper drew formal challenge.
Limitations
Defense-aligned exposure-reconstruction literature; simulated chamber conditions, not real-world measurement of the recalled products. PMID 36227690 used SPIKED talc ores (0.005% and 0.1% tremolite added), not marketed product. The existence of a published letter-to-the-editor exchange (PMID 36377135) should be disclosed if the risk figures are quoted. Competing interests not verified in this pass.
