The 2020 JAMA pooled analysis of four cohorts (PMID 31910280) found no statistically significant association between perineal talc use and ovarian cancer overall: HR 1.08 (95% CI 0.99-1.17); frequent use 1.09 (0.97-1.23); long-term use 1.01 (0.82-1.25). The estimate for women with a patent reproductive tract was 1.13 (1.01-1.26), with P-interaction .15.
Claim scope
The pooled-analysis point estimates and confidence intervals as published, including the patent-tract subgroup result.
What this source does not establish
The patent-tract hazard ratio must always carry its P-interaction of .15 — presented without it, the subgroup finding is materially misleading. The study does not rule out a small association, and it does not address mesothelioma.
Limitations
Quote all four estimates with confidence intervals as a set; never quote the patent-tract figure alone.
