Talc Evidence Atlas — release-gated evidence record. Status: verified · Track: litigation · Modified 2026-08-13

The record

Bestwall LLC (Georgia-Pacific) divisional-merger bankruptcy decisions in the Fourth Circuit.

Claim scope

The Fourth Circuit line permitting the divisional-merger/Chapter 11 structure, which is the counterweight to LTL. 71 F.4th 168 independently VERIFIED via citation-lookup (status 200 -> Published cluster 9408506, 2023-06-20). 148 F.4th 233 and 157 F.4th 579 are printed verbatim inside the published Herlihy opinion. This is also the source confirming the LTL reporter cite.

What this source does not establish

Bestwall is a GYPSUM/joint-compound asbestos case, NOT a cosmetic talc case. It is relevant only to the corporate-technique narrative, and must not be presented as a talc decision.

Limitations

Only 71 F.4th 168 was independently resolved through the citation-lookup endpoint; 148 F.4th 233 and 157 F.4th 579 rest on the Herlihy dissent printing them. CourtListener clusters 9408505 and 10646900 both have EMPTY citations fields.
