Claim scope
That this literature exists in PubMed and must be acknowledged, not suppressed. It is the mineralogical counter-argument to the IWGACP 'elongate mineral particle' framing: if non-asbestiform cleavage fragments are not hazardous, then counting all EMPs ≥0.5 µm with AR ≥3:1 overstates the hazard. The PSLT argument (PMID 41687805): talc 'has not been associated with increased lung cancer risk in humans, even after prolonged occupational exposure' and rat lung tumours occur 'only under conditions of lung overload'.
What this source does not establish
These are REVIEWS and hazard-framework arguments, not cohort studies with risk measures, and they concern NON-ASBESTIFORM particles and ASBESTOS-FREE talc. They do NOT contest that asbestos in talc is hazardous, and they must not be cited as though they did. Note the honest counterweight within this same literature: PMID 36965797 records that 'studies of taconite miners in Minnesota have revealed an excess rate of mesothelioma, but the role of non-asbestiform EMPs in this excess incidence of mesothelioma is unclear', and that 'there is a strong consensus that long, highly durable respirable asbestiform EMPs have the potential to cause mesothelioma'.
